The Journey of self discovery - Unveiling the potentials in you (PT. 03)

I wept profusely and recalled the words my adopted mum said to me at the point of her death. She said `Chloe, you are a very special girl, one with a unique voice that would heal the world someday, the world might not know who you are now or like who you are but don't worry about it, Know who you really are, love who you really are and live who you really are. Nothing can stop you from becoming you'.

`What would she say if she saw me now, I am such a disappointment' I thought to myself. I said a silent prayer to God to save me from everything making promises to live a decent life after jail and somehow, I felt peace at that moment and knew that God heard my prayers.

During my jail term, my escape through each day was music, reconnecting with music saved my life, I would sing so loud because when I did, I felt free, free from everything and everyone loved to hear me sing even the jail wardens. With time, I figured there was no use regretting the past and wishing I could change what happened, what's done is done and what's gone is gone, I had learnt my lessons and decided to start a new life with music.

By the time I was released from jail, I had already composed two songs of my own. I got a part-time job as a maid to a black woman who treated me nicely and gave me a room in her mansion to live in. I would wake up every morning to clean up the mansion singing and humming rhythm and lyrics.

While I observed my day to day ritual, Katherine, the woman who hired me noticed how joyful and carefree I was every time I raised my voice to sing and little did I know that she was a well known singer and songwriter.
I felt a strong adrenaline rush through my veins as she presented to me an offer to be my coach which I accepted immediately. From that day onward, my whole life changed. I had always wanted to make music that would heal the wounded and give hope to all and finally my dreams turned into a reality.

I felt free watching a sea of people convene to listen to my voice, music was the only reason I had any confidence to stand in front of a crowd and music is the reason an orphan who had no hope, no one, nothing at all can stand before you today to share her story.

So what about you? What is your approach to life? What are your goals and can you define them? Do you have a dream? A man without a dream is like a dog without a sense of smell, it goes wherever, does whatever and lives however with no definite direction because he is ignorant of his hidden abilities and how to make good use of them.

Have you always felt that urge and rumbling inviting you to be truly you? Is there a part of you that you have denied and disowned? Search for your dream, something you would like to achieve. You don't have to start big, no one expects you to change the world in a second, start from where you are right now.

Now is the time to reclaim the lost hidden parts of yourself. Your life is your movie, it is your story and you are the main character, you are the director and screen writer. Imagine watching a movie without a plot or a meaningful story, turning off your screen will surely be your next move. Make your life a meaningful story, do not be swayed by the journey or destiny of another, do not strive to please people or crave the acceptance of everyone around you because not everyone will accept you, not everyone would like who you are and it's okay. Never put aside your instincts when it says what the crowd is telling you to do is wrong only because you want their acceptance. Remember always that it is your journey and yours alone. Write the script of your life just the way you want it to be and live in it.

Your escape might not be music, it could be the ability to write, run, be an athlete, paint masterpieces, anything at all. Nobody is born a nobody, no matter the drama and trauma that you endure or the karma you accumulate at your core, you are pure, truly lovable and you deserve to be celebrated for your uniqueness so go out there and discover what is inside of you. And like my adopted mum said to me `Know who you really are, love who you really are and live you really are'.

  5. Nice one from Chloe. Mind-blowing scenes from her.

Chloe is a basic representation of the broken human who thinks the world is against them, but don't realize how much power they carry.

We humans should see ourselves from a standpoint of change not complaint.
